There were more. I had to thin the flock, and the first 'pinch' was hard, in ways I feel dumb talking about. There are times I look at them and feel like we're ready to go out into the garden right now, if they've survived ten or so days of of my overbearing love, and still managed to sprout their first sets of true leaves (the microscopic green bits in the very middle of each seedling), why not? And then I look at this picture, and realize how small they are, how much further they have to go before we're even close to anything that counts.
Which is why I'm feeding them Human Growth Hormone.
You kind ladies. Thank you so much. Elly, I am ridiculously overprotective of them.
Alya, your message is so encouraging, thank you. It blows my mind that seeds can sprout these beasts, you know? When they're itty-bitty and barely poking up and out, it seems plausible, like okay, I can see how we got here. That looks like a reasonable amount of seedling, compared to the size of the seed. But now (and they're so much bigger even today, compared to this picture) they're just blowing my mind. It has been all Science, all the time up in here.
Kate, oh man, a lot of lycopene? A lot of crushed ice, which is illegal in this country, I think? You know, the usual. Whatever I find in the street, whatever is still left in the syringe I pull from homeless arms in the night, coked up and tripping off of mayonnaise packets. The usual. Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying your stay!

at least that's something! Its wonderful that you've started growing something that was a SEED. So getting a few leaves means there's roots below, and a stem! That's not nothing! That's something!
Cant wait to see whats next :)

I love when something your caring for, or a project you've started FINALLY starts showing signs of fruition! Go you :)

The question, of course, is what kind of drugs you're feeding yourself. But I'm sure you've been asked that before.
Kate
P.S. Found my way here via THE DAILY COYOTE, and I'm loving it.
