Soon, a real post, but right now I'm telling you, find a way to listen to Duffy's single, "Mercy", and tell me it doesn't improve your life in great, tangible ways.
When I was a little lump, I listened to this cassette of fifties and sixties girl groups over and over again. That kind of music makes me happy in a way I can't describe, and for some reason, British/UK artists are capturing that sound, the same honey that drew me in to the Ronettes and Angels and Shangri-Las when I was nine, and listening to them on a yellow radio that was waterproof.
when i was a kid, i had this karaoke tape of 50's/60's girl groups (and one nancy sinatra song), and i remember blasting it out the backyard speakers, singing all the words, and riding my bike in superfast circles around the porch. for like, hours. i still can't listen to "these boots were made for walkin'" without feeling like i'm on a bike.
